Swiss roll is another famous cake in Sweden. You can buy it with different flavours such as Strawberry and Chocolate. The Swiss roll can be a bit tricky to bake, but after some practice you will get a yummy treat to serve your guests with. 😀
Recipe (makes 15 slices)
- 3 eggs
- 1 ½ dl caster sugar
- 3/4 dl potato flour
- 2 tablespoons cacao
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 100 gr butter
- 1 ½ dl icing/confectioners’ sugar
- 2 egg yolks
- 1 tablespoon vanilla sugar
Preheat the oven to 225 degrees C.
Place a parchment paper on a baking sheet.
Whisk the eggs and caster sugar until fluffy.
Mix the potato flour, cacao and baking powder. Add the mixture into the egg and sugar mixture. Be careful when you stir the mixture.
Pour the mixture onto the baking sheet.
Bake the cake in the middle of the oven for about 5 minutes.
When the cake is ready, take it out from the oven and put it onto a sugary surface, and allow to cool.
Stir the butter and icing/confectioners’ sugar. Add the egg yolks and vanilla sugar and stir until you get a creamy and fluffy texture.
Spread the buttercream over the cake. Roll it up. Voila, you have a home-baked Swiss roll. 😀
Allow it to cool in the fridge for 40 minutes.
Slice the cake into 15 slices.
Store the Swiss roll in the fridge.
