Chocolate Fudge Cake

Mmmm… chocolate chocolate! 😀 This is absolutely an AMAZING recipe of a Chocolate Fudge Cake! 😀 Please, try it out, if you do love chocolate as much as I do! 😀 I had the cake for a shorter time in oven because I love when it’s a bit gooey… yum yum!! It tastes like a Swedish “Kladdkaka” then… 😀


Recipe (makes 4-6 slices)

For the sponge 

  • 85 gr self raising flour
  • 30 gr cocoa powder
  • A pinch of salt
  • 115 gr light muscovado sugar
  • 115 gr unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 free-range eggs, lightly beaten
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk

For the sauce

  • 85 gr light muscovado sugar
  • 30 gr cocoa powder
  • 225 ml milk

Preheat the oven to 180C/350F/Gas 4.

Butter a 1-litre (2-pint) ovenproof dish (I used a bigger one so my cake slices are a bit thinner).

To make the sponge, sift the flour into a bowl with the cocoa powder and salt.

In a separate bowl, cream together the sugar and butter until light and fluffy.

Beat in the vanilla extract and the eggs then fold this mixture in the flour mixture.

Mix in just enough milk to give a soft dropping consistency.

Pour the sugar and butter mix into the bowl with the previous ingredients. Whisk it for a little while until everything is just incorporated.

Spoon into the buttered ovenproof dish.

For the sauce, mix the sugar and the cocoa powder together and gradually beat in the milk.

Pour evenly over the uncooked cake mixture.
